1. What We Collect

We collect only the minimum information needed to provide our service:

Account information (username, email, hashed password)
Pet profiles you create (name, type, breed, age, gender)
Videos you upload for emotion analysis
Emotion analysis results

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide pet emotion analysis
To maintain your pet's emotion archive
To improve our analysis quality
To send transactional emails (verification, analysis results) if you opt in
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing

3. Video Processing

Uploaded videos are processed through our AI analysis service for emotion detection. Videos are transmitted to our AI provider (Google Gemini or equivalent) solely for analysis. Videos are stored securely on Cloudflare R2 and you can delete them at any time by deleting your pet profile or account.

4. Cookies

We use only essential cookies for authentication (JWT token storage). We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. By using our service, you consent to these essential cookies.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under GDPR and similar privacy laws, you have the right to:

Access your personal data
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your account and all associated data permanently
Export your data in a portable format (JSON)
Withdraw consent at any time
Opt out of email notifications

6. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data (pets, videos, analyses) is permanently deleted within 30 days.

7. Third-Party Services

AI Analysis — videos are sent to Google Gemini or an alternative AI provider for emotion analysis. The provider's data usage policy applies.
Cloudflare R2 — video storage. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Resend — transactional email delivery.
PayPal — payment processing for subscriptions.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using PetWhats (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. We may update these Terms at any time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Service Description

PetWhats provides video-based pet behavior and emotion insights. Users upload short video clips of their pets, and the Service generates behavioral observations, an emotion assessment, and general care suggestions (“Analysis Results”).

Important: Analysis Results are for informational and entertainment purposes only. They do not constitute veterinary diagnosis or professional advice. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for health concerns.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining account security and all activities under your account.
Each account is for a single individual — sharing credentials is prohibited.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Upload content depicting animal cruelty, abuse, or neglect
Upload illegal, sexually explicit, or hateful content
Impersonate others or provide false information
Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code
Interfere with or disrupt the Service

6. Intellectual Property

Our IP: The Service, branding, and software are owned by PetWhats and protected by copyright and trademark laws.

Your Content: You retain ownership of all videos and content you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your content solely for providing the Service to you.

7. Payments & Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via PayPal and auto-renew until canceled. You may cancel anytime through Settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. See our Refund Policy for details on refunds.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that Analysis Results will be accurate. Do not rely on Analysis Results for decisions affecting your pet's health or safety.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PETWHATS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, including damages from reliance on Analysis Results. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount paid by you in the 12 months preceding any claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through Settings. We may terminate accounts for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. For EU/UK users, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence also apply.
